Today’s focus is on using our words to encourage, uplift, and bring life to those around us. This aligns with our fundamental beliefs:
- Power of Words: We believe that our words have power to build up or tear down.
- Encouragement: We are called to use our words to encourage and uplift others.
- Positive Influence: We strive to be a positive influence in the lives of those around us through our speech.
Practical Application:
- Be mindful of the words you use and choose to speak words of life and encouragement.
- Avoid gossip, criticism, and negativity.
- Offer words of affirmation, support, and hope to those around you.
Let us continue this journey with hearts committed to speaking words of life. May we be instruments of God’s love and grace, bringing hope and encouragement to all we encounter.

DAY 35: Begotten in My Chains: Recognizing God’s Ability to Work Through Our Limitations and Difficult Circumstances
Theme: Ministry in Difficulties
Scripture: Philemon 1:10 (NIV) – “I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, who became my son while I was in chains.”
Reflection:
Paul’s phrase “begotten in my chains” reveals that even in confinement, God can use us to bring others to faith. This challenges us to see our limitations and difficulties not as barriers, but as potential opportunities for God to work. As we continue our 47-day journey, let’s explore how we can embrace our circumstances and allow God to use us within the H4J and DCN300 communities, regardless of our limitations. Paul’s testimony inspires: “Trust that God can work through your limitations, using even your difficult circumstances for His glory!”

- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10 (NIV): “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. - Belief 11: Growing in Christ – Difficult circumstances can be opportunities for spiritual growth and dependence on God.
Practical Application for H4J Community:
- Identify Your Limitations: Acknowledge your limitations and weaknesses. Don’t try to be someone you’re not.
Story: Sister Maria struggled with public speaking. Instead of trying to force herself to be a speaker, she focused on using her gifts in writing and administration to support the ministry.
- Focus on Your Strengths: Identify your strengths and talents. Find ways to use them to serve others, even within your limitations.
Story: Brother David was confined to a wheelchair. He used his knowledge of technology to help his church with their website and online communication.
- Seek God’s Guidance: Pray for God’s guidance and direction. Ask Him to show you how you can be used, even in your difficult circumstances.
Story: Homes for Jesus organized a prayer group for members who were facing challenges in their lives. They encouraged one another to seek God’s guidance and to trust in His plan.
- Be Open to Unexpected Opportunities: Be open to unexpected opportunities for ministry. God may use you in ways you never imagined.
Story: Sister Emily was struggling with a chronic illness. She used her experiences to minister to others who were facing similar challenges.
- Trust in God’s Power: Remember that God’s power is made perfect in weakness. Trust that He can use you, even when you feel inadequate.
Story: Brother John was facing a difficult financial situation. He trusted in God’s provision and continued to serve others, even when he was struggling.
This devotional reading encourages us to recognize God’s ability to work through our limitations and difficult circumstances. By identifying our limitations, focusing on our strengths, seeking God’s guidance, being open to opportunities, and trusting in God’s power, we can be used by Him to make a difference in the world.
