Message:

Beloved family, greetings in the name of our Lord! Today, let us reflect on the profound message of partnership in faith, drawing inspiration from Paul’s letter to Philemon and the teachings of Homes for Jesus Community.

In Philemon 1:17, Paul appeals to Philemon based on their shared partnership in the Gospel. He urges Philemon to welcome Onesimus, not as a mere servant, but as a brother, a partner in faith. Paul’s words resonate deeply, reminding us that we are all interconnected in our journey of faith. We are called to support and uplift one another as we spread the Good News. As Paul so eloquently puts it, if you consider me a partner, welcome him as you would welcome me.

This concept of partnership is echoed throughout Scripture:

  • Philippians 1:27 (NIV): “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ…striving together as one for the faith of the gospel.” We are called to stand firm in one Spirit, united in our efforts for the Gospel.
  • 1 Corinthians 3:9 (NIV): “For we are co-workers in God’s service; you are God’s field, God’s building.” We are not alone in this work; we are co-workers with God, building His kingdom together.
  • 2 Corinthians 8:23 (NIV): “As for Titus, he is my partner and co-worker among you…[others] are representatives of the churches and an honor to Christ.” We are partners, co-workers, and representatives of Christ, each playing a vital role in the body of Christ.

Homes for Jesus Community emphasizes that this partnership is essential for the church to function effectively and fulfill its mission. Recognizing our unity in the Body of Christ promotes collaboration and mutual support. Supporting and encouraging fellow believers is a tangible expression of Christian behavior within our partnership.

Practical Application:

  1. Identify Your Role:

What unique gifts, talents, and resources do you possess? How can you use them to contribute to the Gospel partnership within our community?

  2. Support Others:

Seek opportunities to support and encourage others in their roles. Offer assistance, provide encouragement, and celebrate their successes.

  3. Collaborate on Projects:

Work together to identify needs, develop solutions, and implement strategies for ministry projects.

  4. Communicate Effectively:

Openly share your ideas, express your concerns, and work together to resolve conflicts, fostering trust and understanding.

  5. Pray for Your Partners:

Lift up your fellow believers in prayer, asking God to bless their efforts, strengthen their faith, and protect them from harm.

May we be strengthened and united as we work together to fulfill God’s purpose. Amen.
