DEVOTIONAL READING
Day 35 of The Last 40 Days of 2025 Season of Prayer and Thanksgiving
Welcome, Beloved Family!
Greetings to our H4J – Homes for Jesus Network and DCN300 family! Today, as we continue our journey through the final 40 days of 2025 in prayer and thanksgiving, we turn our hearts to making the spirit of Christmas tangible for others.
Theme: Sharing Christmas Joy Through Redemptive Generosity
Today, we focus on extending Christmas love and embodying the redemptive generosity of Christ – turning joy into action that meets the needs of those around us.
Main Scripture
Philemon 1:19 (NIV)
“I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand. I will pay it back—not to mention that you owe me your very self.”
Reflection
Paul’s promise to “pay it back” reflects a deep commitment to covering others’ debts – both literal and figurative. This challenges us to go above and beyond in our interactions, mirroring Christ’s redemptive love. As we walk this season of prayer and thanksgiving, let us ask: How can I embody this generous, redemptive spirit in my community? Paul’s pledge inspires us: “Embody the redemptive generosity of Christ, going above and beyond to meet the needs of others!”
Additional Scriptures
- Luke 6:38 (NIV): “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”
- 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NIV): “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
- Matthew 20:28 (NIV): “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”
Connecting with Fundamental Beliefs
This focus on redemptive generosity aligns with core truths:
- Belief 9: The Life, Death, and Resurrection of Christ – Christ’s sacrifice is the ultimate act of redemptive generosity.
- Belief 20: Christian Behavior – Generosity and selfless service are central to living out our faith.
Practical Application for Our Community
Let’s turn these truths into action this day:

Closing Prayer Thought
May our hearts be full of thanksgiving for Christ’s generosity, and may we share that joy with others in tangible ways today. Let’s commit to living as agents of redemptive love, strengthening our H4J and DCN300 communities one act of kindness at a time.
Welcome to a day of sharing Christmas joy through redemptive generosity!
