DEVOTIONAL READING

Day 33 of The Last 40 Days of 2025 Season of Prayer and Thanksgiving

Welcome, Beloved Family!

Greetings to our H4J (Homes for Jesus Network of Global Frontiers Institute) and DCN300 family! As we reach Day 33 of our season of prayer and thanksgiving, we continue our journey of transformation—focusing on how to live out our faith with both steadfastness and grace.

Theme: Standing Firm in Christlike Acceptance

1 Corinthians 16:13 (NIV) – “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.”

Philemon 1:17 (NIV) – “So if you consider me a partner, welcome him as you would welcome me.”

Reflection

Today, we blend two powerful truths: standing firm in our faith and extending Christ-like acceptance to others. As we give thanks for God’s faithfulness, we are called to remain unwavering in our belief—rooted in His truth—even when faced with challenges. Yet this steadfastness is not meant to separate us, but to empower us to love as Christ loved.

Paul’s request to Philemon challenges us: to receive others as we would receive Christ Himself, regardless of their past. This calls us to examine our hearts with gratitude—thanking God for the grace He has shown us, and then sharing that grace with others. In our 40-day journey of prayer and thanksgiving, let’s ask: How can I stand firm in my faith while opening my heart to those around me?

Additional Scriptures to Ponder

  • Romans 15:7 (NIV): “Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you, in order to bring praise to God.”
  • Luke 6:31 (NIV): “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”
  • John 13:34-35 (NIV): “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Connecting with Our Fundamental Beliefs

This focus aligns with core truths we hold dear:

  • Endurance & Courage: We persevere in faith, even when called to love those who are different.
  • Truth: We stand firm on God’s Word, which teaches us to love unconditionally.
  • Belief 10 (The Experience of Salvation): Acceptance and forgiveness are central to the grace we receive and share.
  • Belief 20 (Christian Behavior): Christ-like love and compassion mark our lives as followers of Jesus.

Practical Application for Our Community

As we pray and give thanks today, let’s put these truths into action:

  1. Examine Your Heart with Gratitude: Thank God for revealing any biases. Sister Maria did this when she realized she held prejudice against a cultural group—she chose to learn about their lives and build relationships.
  2. Extend Grace Freely: Forgive as you have been forgiven. Brother David chose to rebuild a friendship after being hurt, thanking God for the strength to let go of anger.
  3. Offer Hospitality: Open your home and heart. H4J created a program for temporary housing for those in need—a tangible way to welcome others as Christ.
  4. Advocate for the Marginalized: Stand up against injustice. Sister Emily advocated for refugees, giving thanks for the opportunity to be God’s hands and feet.
  5. Love Unconditionally: Embrace all, regardless of background. Brother John made this his mission, thanking God for the diversity that enriches our community.

Closing Commitment

May we stand firm in our faith today, rooted in thanksgiving for God’s grace. Let’s commit to receiving others as we would receive Christ—creating a community marked by both steadfastness and love. May our prayer be: “Lord, thank you for standing firm with me. Help me to stand firm in love for others, too.”
