Welcome to Day 34 of Transformation!
Greetings, beloved family of H4J and DCN300!
Today, we continue our journey, focusing on practical ways to live out our faith, drawing inspiration from various scriptures.
Theme: Being Humble (Philippians 2:3-4)
Today’s focus is on practicing humility in our attitudes and actions, putting others’ needs before our own. This aligns with our fundamental beliefs:
- Humility: We believe that humility is a virtue that pleases God and strengthens our relationships with others.
- Selflessness: We are called to be selfless, putting the needs of others before our own desires.
- Service: Humility leads us to serve others with a willing and joyful heart.
Practical Application:
- Be mindful of your attitude and avoid pride or arrogance.
- Look for opportunities to serve others and put their needs before your own.
- Practice humility in your interactions with others, treating everyone with respect and kindness.
Let us continue this journey with hearts committed to being humble. May we be a reflection of Christ’s humility, serving others with love and grace.
Welcome, and may this be a day of being humble!
Devotional Reading
DAY 34: Whom I Have Begotten: Understanding Our Role in Nurturing Spiritual Growth and Discipleship
Theme: Spiritual Generation
Scripture: Philemon 1:10 (NIV) – “I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, who became my son while I was in chains.”
Reflection:
Paul’s statement “whom I have begotten” emphasizes his active role in bringing Onesimus to faith. This highlights our responsibility to not only introduce people to Christ but also to nurture their spiritual growth and development. As we continue our 47-day journey, let’s reflect on how we can more effectively participate in the process of spiritual generation within the H4J and DCN300 communities. Paul’s words call us to: “Actively participate in the spiritual birth and nurturing of new believers!”
Additional Scripture:
- John 15:16 (NIV): “You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.”
- Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV): “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
- 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 (NIV): “I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”
Connecting with the 28 Fundamental Beliefs:
Our focus on “Whom I Have Begotten” aligns with several of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs. Specifically:
- Belief 11: Growing in Christ – The process of spiritual growth and discipleship is a lifelong journey.
- Belief 13: Remnant and Its Mission – Part of the remnant’s mission is to make disciples of all nations.
Practical Application for H4J Community:
- Be a Proactive Witness: Don’t wait for opportunities to come to you; actively seek out opportunities to share your faith with others.
Story: Sister Maria made it a practice to invite her neighbors to church events and to share her faith with them in casual conversations.
- Invest in Relationships: Build genuine relationships with those you are trying to reach. Get to know them, listen to their stories, and show them that you care.
Story: Brother David volunteered at a local community center, building relationships with people from different backgrounds and sharing his faith with them.
- Teach Sound Doctrine: Ground new believers in sound biblical doctrine. Help them to understand the core truths of the Christian faith.
Story: Homes for Jesus offered a series of classes on basic Christian doctrine to help new believers grow in their understanding of the faith.
- Model Christian Living: Live a life that is consistent with your faith. Let your actions speak louder than your words.
Story: Sister Emily always made a point to treat others with respect and kindness, even when they were difficult to deal with.
- Empower Them to Serve: Empower new believers to use their gifts and talents to serve others. Help them to find their place in the body of Christ.
Story: Brother John mentored a new believer, helping him to discover his gifts and talents and to use them to serve in the church.
This devotional reading encourages us to understand our role in nurturing spiritual growth and discipleship. By being a proactive witness, investing in relationships, teaching sound doctrine, modeling Christian living, and empowering them to serve, we can actively participate in the spiritual birth and nurturing of new believers. Let’s commit to spiritual generation, following Paul’s example, and strengthening the H4J and DCN300 communities!
