Welcome to Day 37 of Transformation!
Greetings, beloved family of H4J and DCN300!
Today, we continue our journey, focusing on practical ways to live out our faith, drawing inspiration from various scriptures.
Theme: Being Thankful (Colossians 3:15)
Today’s focus is on cultivating an attitude of gratitude and expressing thankfulness in all circumstances. This aligns with our fundamental beliefs:
- Gratitude: We believe that gratitude is a virtue that pleases God and enriches our lives.
- Blessings: We recognize and appreciate the many blessings that God has given us.
- Positive Perspective: Thankfulness helps us to maintain a positive perspective, even in difficult times.
Practical Application:
- Take time to reflect on the blessings in your life and express gratitude to God.
- Make a list of things you are thankful for and review it regularly.
- Express your appreciation to others for their kindness and support.
Let us continue this journey with hearts committed to being thankful. May we be filled with joy and contentment, recognizing God’s goodness in all things.
Welcome, and may this be a day of being thankful!
Devotional Reading
DAY 37: Now Profitable to You and to Me: Recognizing the Mutual Benefit of Redemption and Reconciliation
Theme: Shared Value
Scripture: Philemon 1:11 (NIV) – “Formerly he was useless to you, but now he has become useful both to you and to me.”
Reflection:
Paul’s statement that Onesimus is now “profitable both to you and to me” highlights the mutual benefit that results from redemption and reconciliation. When lives are transformed, everyone involved benefits. As we continue our 47-day journey, let’s consider how we can foster relationships that create shared value and mutual growth within the H4J and DCN300 communities. Paul’s observation emphasizes: “Strive for relationships where redemption and reconciliation lead to shared value and mutual benefit!”
Additional Scripture:
- Ephesians 4:32 (NIV): “Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.”
- Colossians 3:13 (NIV): “Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”
- Luke 15:7 (NIV): “I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.”
Connecting with the 28 Fundamental Beliefs:
Our focus on “Now Profitable to You and to Me” aligns with several of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs. Specifically:
- Belief 10: The Experience of Salvation – Salvation not only transforms the individual but also impacts their relationships with others.
- Belief 12: The Church – The church is a community where members support and encourage one another in their spiritual journeys.
Practical Application for H4J Community:
- Seek Reconciliation: If you have a broken relationship, take the initiative to seek reconciliation. Be willing to forgive and to ask for forgiveness.
Story: Sister Maria had a strained relationship with her sister. She decided to reach out to her and to ask for forgiveness for her past mistakes. They were able to reconcile and to rebuild their relationship.
- Support Transformation: Support those who are seeking to change their lives. Offer them encouragement, guidance, and practical assistance.
Story: Brother David mentored a young man who was trying to overcome an addiction. He provided him with support, accountability, and encouragement.
- Value Diverse Gifts: Recognize and value the diverse gifts and talents that each person brings to the community. Create opportunities for people to use their gifts to serve others.
Story: Homes for Jesus created a volunteer program that matched people with opportunities to use their gifts and talents to serve the church and the community.
- Celebrate Contributions: Celebrate the contributions of those who are making a positive impact in the community. Acknowledge their efforts and express your appreciation.
Story: Sister Emily organized a celebration to honor the volunteers who had made a significant contribution to the church’s outreach program.
- Foster Collaboration: Foster collaboration and teamwork. Encourage people to work together to achieve common goals.
Story: Brother John facilitated a team-building workshop to help members of his church work more effectively together.
This devotional reading encourages us to recognize the mutual benefit of redemption and reconciliation. By seeking reconciliation, supporting transformation, valuing diverse gifts, celebrating contributions, and fostering collaboration, we can create relationships that generate shared value and mutual growth. Let’s commit to building redemptive relationships, following Paul’s example, and strengthening the H4J and DCN300 communities!
