Welcome to Day 39 of Transformation!
Greetings, beloved family of H4J and DCN300!
Today, we continue our journey, focusing on practical ways to live out our faith, drawing inspiration from various scriptures.
Theme: Using Your Gifts (1 Peter 4:10)
Today’s focus is on recognizing and using our unique gifts and talents to serve others and glorify God. This aligns with our fundamental beliefs:
- Gifts from God: We believe that God has given each of us unique gifts and talents.
- Stewardship: We are called to be good stewards of our gifts, using them to serve others.
- Purpose: We find fulfillment and purpose when we use our gifts to glorify God.
Practical Application:
- Reflect on your gifts and talents and how you can use them to serve others.
- Look for opportunities to volunteer your time and skills in your church, community, or workplace.
- Be open to using your gifts in new and creative ways to make a positive impact on the world.
Let us continue this journey with hearts committed to using our gifts. May we be a blessing to others and bring glory to God through our service.
Welcome, and may this be a day of using your gifts!

DAY 39: My Very Heart: Recognizing the Deep Value and Significance of Each Member of the Body of Christ
Theme: Intrinsic Value
Scripture: Philemon 1:12 (NIV) – “I am sending him—who is my very heart—back to you.”
Reflection:
Paul’s description of Onesimus as “my very heart” reveals the deep affection and value he placed on him, despite Onesimus’ past. This calls us to recognize the intrinsic worth of every member of the body of Christ, regardless of their background, abilities, or past mistakes. As we continue our 47-day journey, let’s consider how we can better communicate the value and significance of each individual within the H4J and DCN300 communities. Paul’s sentiment inspires: “See every member of the body of Christ as precious and valuable, recognizing their unique contribution to the whole!”
Additional Scripture:
- 1 Corinthians 12:27 (NIV): “Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.”
- Romans 12:5 (NIV): “so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.”
- Galatians 3:28 (NIV): “There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
Connecting with the 28 Fundamental Beliefs:
Our focus on “My Very Heart” aligns with several of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs. Specifically:
- Belief 12: The Church – Every member of the church is a valuable and important part of the body of Christ.
- Belief 14: Unity in the Body of Christ – Recognizing the value of each member is essential for maintaining unity.
Practical Application for H4J Community:
- Acknowledge Their Presence: Make a point to acknowledge the presence of every person in your community. Greet them by name, make eye contact, and show them that you see them.
Story: Sister Maria made it a practice to greet every member of her church by name and to ask them how they were doing.
- Listen Attentively: When someone is speaking, listen attentively to what they have to say. Show them that you value their thoughts and opinions.
Story: Brother David made a conscious effort to listen more and to talk less. He found that people were more likely to open up to him when they felt that he was truly listening.
- Affirm Their Gifts: Recognize and affirm the unique gifts and talents that each person brings to the community.
Story: Homes for Jesus created a “talent bank” where members could list their skills and offer their services to others.
- Encourage Participation: Encourage everyone to participate in the life of the community. Create opportunities for them to use their gifts and talents to serve others.
Story: Sister Emily invited a shy member of her church to join her in volunteering at a local soup kitchen. He discovered that he had a gift for connecting with people and found a new sense of purpose.
- Celebrate Their Contributions: Celebrate
