Day 43

Day 43 of Transformation

Welcome to Day 43 of Transformation!

Greetings, beloved family of H4J and DCN300!

Today, we continue our journey, drawing inspiration from the 47 Days of Transformation, focusing on practical ways to live out our faith.

Theme: Counting Our Blessings (December 27)

Today, we take time to reflect on and appreciate all the blessings in our lives. This aligns with our fundamental beliefs:

  • Gratitude: We believe in the importance of gratitude as a cornerstone of our faith.
  • Awareness: We intentionally recognize and acknowledge the blessings, both big and small, that God has bestowed upon us.
  • Contentment: By counting our blessings, we cultivate contentment and joy in our current circumstances.

Practical Application:

  • Set aside time to create a list of all the things you are grateful for in your life.
  • Reflect on specific instances where you have experienced God’s provision and grace.
  • Share your gratitude with others, expressing appreciation for their presence and contributions in your life.

Let us continue this journey with hearts full of thankfulness, recognizing the abundance of blessings that surround us each day.

Welcome, and may this be a day of counting our blessings!

Devotional Reading

Day 43: You Owe Me Your Very Self

DAY 43: You Owe Me Your Very Self: Recognizing the Profound Impact of Spiritual Mentorship and Discipleship

Theme: Spiritual Debt

Scripture: Philemon 1:19 (NIV) – “I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand. I will pay it back—not to mention that you owe me your very self.”

Reflection:
Paul reminds Philemon that he “owes me your very self,” highlighting the significant impact of spiritual mentorship and discipleship. This challenges us to acknowledge the debt we owe to those who have invested in our spiritual growth and to consider how we can pay it forward by mentoring others. As we continue our 47-day journey, let’s reflect on how we can honor our spiritual mentors and actively participate in the discipleship process within the H4J and DCN300 communities. Paul’s statement prompts us to: “Recognize the profound impact of spiritual mentors and commit to investing in the lives of others!”

Additional Scripture:

  • Hebrews 13:7 (NIV): “Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith.”
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13 (NIV): “Now we ask you, brothers and sisters, to acknowledge those who work hard among you, who care for you in the Lord and who admonish you. Hold them in the highest regard in love because of their work. Live in peace with each other.”
  • 2 Timothy 2:2 (NIV): “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”

Connecting with the 28 Fundamental Beliefs:

Our focus on “You Owe Me Your Very Self” aligns with several of the 28 Fundamental Beliefs. Specifically:

  • Belief 11: Growing in Christ – Spiritual mentorship and discipleship are essential for growth in Christ.
  • Belief 12: The Church – The church is a community where members support and encourage one another in their spiritual journeys.

Practical Application for H4J Community:

  • Identify Your Mentors: Take time to identify those who have played a significant role in your spiritual development.

Story: Sister Maria made a list of the people who had mentored her over the years and reached out to thank them for their influence.

  • Express Gratitude: Express your gratitude to your mentors for their investment in your life. Let them know how they have impacted you.

Story: Brother David wrote a letter to his former pastor, thanking him for his guidance and support.

  • Learn From Their Example: Observe the lives of your mentors and learn from their example. Seek to emulate their faith, their character, and their commitment to Christ.

Story: Homes for Jesus organized a series of interviews with older members of the church, sharing their stories and wisdom with the congregation.

  • Become a Mentor: Pay it forward by becoming a mentor to others. Invest in the lives of those who are younger in the faith.

Story: Sister Emily volunteered to mentor a young woman who was struggling with her faith.

  • Support the Discipleship Process: Support the discipleship process within your community. Participate in mentoring programs, small groups, and other opportunities for spiritual growth.

Story: Brother John led a small group for men, helping them to grow in their faith and to become better husbands, fathers, and leaders.

This devotional reading encourages us to recognize the profound impact of spiritual mentorship and discipleship. By identifying our mentors, expressing gratitude, learning from their example, becoming a mentor, and supporting the discipleship process, we can honor those who have invested in our lives and contribute to the spiritual growth of others. Let’s commit to valuing spiritual mentorship, following Paul’s example, and strengthening the H4J and DCN300 communities!
