Day 14: Confidence in Obedience – Joy and Blessing
Welcome to Day 14! Today, we conclude our exploration of Paul’s letter to Philemon by reflecting on the profound connection between obedience and blessing. When we trust in God’s wisdom and follow His commands, we can be confident that joy and blessing will follow.
Our focus today is on Trusting that obedience to God brings joy and blessing.
“I do wish, brother, that I may have some benefit from you in the Lord; refresh my heart in Christ. Confident of your obedience, I write to you, knowing that you will do even more than I ask.” – Philemon 1:20-21
In these verses, Paul expresses his hope that Philemon will act in accordance with Christian love and forgive and restore Onesimus. He states his confidence in Philemon’s obedience, knowing that Philemon will not only do what is asked but will even exceed expectations.
This confidence is rooted in the understanding that obedience to God is not a burden but a pathway to blessing. When we align our lives with God’s will, we experience His favor, His guidance, and His peace.
Obedience requires trust. It means believing that God knows what is best for us, even when we don’t understand His ways. It means surrendering our own desires and agendas to His loving control.
The blessings of obedience are manifold:
- Inner peace: Knowing that we are living in accordance with God’s will brings a deep sense of peace and contentment.
- Spiritual growth: Obedience strengthens our faith and helps us to grow in Christlikeness.
- Renewed joy: As we experience God’s blessings, our hearts are filled with joy and gratitude.
- Positive impact: Our obedience can inspire others and have a positive impact on the world around us.
- Deeper relationship with God: Obedience draws us closer to God and deepens our relationship with Him.
Think about the times when you have chosen to obey God, even when it was difficult. What were the results? Did you experience His blessing in your life?
Today, let’s commit to cultivating a spirit of obedience in our lives. Let’s seek God’s will through prayer and Scripture, and let’s be willing to follow His guidance, even when it challenges us. Let’s trust that obedience to God is always the best path, leading to joy, blessing, and a deeper relationship with Him.
