Welcome and Intro to Day 13

Day 13: Sharing the Cost

Day 13: Sharing the Cost – Bearing Burdens Together

Welcome to Day 13! Today, we delve deeper into the practical implications of Christian love, exploring the concept of sharing the cost. We are called not only to offer words of comfort and support but also to be willing to bear the burdens of others and share in their struggles.

Our focus today is on Being willing to bear the burdens of others and share in their struggles.

“If he has done you any wrong or owes you anything, charge it to me. I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand. I will pay it back—not to mention that you owe me your very self.” – Philemon 1:18-19

In these verses, Paul demonstrates a remarkable willingness to take responsibility for Onesimus’s debts. He offers to personally repay any financial obligations Onesimus may have incurred, even though he is not responsible for them. This is a powerful example of what it means to share the cost.

Sharing the cost means more than just offering sympathy or advice. It means:

  • Being present in times of need: Offering practical help and support to those who are struggling.
  • Sacrificing our time and resources: Being willing to give up our own comfort and convenience to help others.
  • Empathizing with their pain: Trying to understand their perspective and feeling their emotions.
  • Advocating for their needs: Speaking up on their behalf and working to create a more just and equitable world.
  • Praying for their strength: Lifting them up in prayer, asking God to provide them with the strength and courage they need to overcome their challenges.

This principle applies to all areas of life – our families, our communities, and the world at large. We are all interconnected, and we all have a responsibility to care for one another.

Think about the people in your life who are currently carrying heavy burdens. Perhaps they are struggling with illness, financial difficulties, relationship problems, or spiritual doubts. How can you share the cost with them? What practical steps can you take to ease their burden and offer them support?

Today, let’s commit to being more intentional about sharing the cost with those around us. Let’s look for opportunities to offer practical help, emotional support, and spiritual encouragement. Let’s remember that we are all part of the same body, and when one part suffers, we all suffer. By sharing the cost, we can demonstrate the love of Christ and create a more compassionate and just world.
