Day 24 – The Last 40 Days of 2025 | Prayer & Thanksgiving

DAY 24: The Last 40 Days of 2025

Season of Prayer and Thanksgiving

Greetings, beloved family in Christ!

Welcome to Day 24 of our 40-day season of prayer and thanksgiving. Today, we focus on how to embrace purpose, serve God, and give thanks – even when facing limitations or confinement – drawing inspiration from the life of Paul.

Core Scripture

(Philemon 1:9, NIV)

“Yet I prefer to appeal to you on the basis of love. I, Paul, as an old man and now also a prisoner of Christ Jesus…”

Reflection: Thanksgiving in Confinement

As we enter this season of gratitude, Paul’s example reminds us that restrictions do not stop God from using us. Even in chains, he continued to minister, pray, and bring hope to others. This prompts us to give thanks for the opportunities to serve right where we are – whether we’re facing physical limits, life transitions, or unexpected challenges.

Paul’s life teaches us: “Find purpose and give thanks even in confinement, knowing that God can use you wherever you are, and that every season holds a gift of growth.”

Additional Scriptures to Meditate On

  • Acts 16:25 (NIV): “About midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.” (A reminder to worship in all circumstances)
  • 2 Timothy 2:9 (NIV): “…for which I am suffering even to the point of being chained like a criminal. But God’s word is not chained.” (God’s truth transcends all limits)
  • Philippians 1:12-14 (NIV): “Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel… And because of my chains, most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel.” (Thanksgiving for how challenges can bear good fruit)

Connecting to Faith and Thanksgiving

This focus aligns with the heart of our season:

  • Thanksgiving in Adversity: We give thanks for how God strengthens our faith through trials (echoing the truth that faith grows in difficulty).
  • Purpose in Every Season: We recognize that our sphere of influence – no matter how small – is a gift to be cherished and used for God’s glory.

Practical Application for This Season

  1. Identify Your Sphere of Influence: Give thanks for the people in your life (family, friends, neighbors, coworkers) – they are your ministry field.

Story: Sister Maria, confined to home by illness, gave thanks for online connections and used them to share encouragement and faith.

  2. Use Your Gifts with Gratitude: Find ways to serve with the talents you have, even in limited ways (writing, calling, online support).

Story: Brother David, unemployed, gave thanks for his writing skills and volunteered to help a local nonprofit.

  3. Let Your Attitude Be a Thanksgiving Testimony: Maintain hope and positivity, giving thanks for God’s control even in hard times.

Story: Members facing financial struggles gave thanks for community support and remained faithful in their outlook.

  4. Pray with Thanksgiving: Make intercession a priority, thanking God for others and seeking His guidance.

Story: Sister Emily organized a prayer group for those in need, focusing on gratitude for God’s provision.

  5. Grow in Gratitude Through Learning: Use this time to study the Bible and deepen your relationship with God, giving thanks for the gift of spiritual growth.

Story: Brother John, in prison, gave thanks for the time to study and develop his spiritual gifts.

Closing Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for this season of prayer and thanksgiving. Help us to see purpose in every circumstance and to give thanks even when we face restrictions. Like Paul, may we serve You faithfully wherever we are, letting our lives be a testimony of Your love. In Jesus’ name, amen.
